motion blur. A 3D-aware production team is not likely to generate this issue
as testing shutter angle match is part of pre-production. If severe enough or
long enough in duration, these mismatches can produce effects which can
cause physical discomfort (including visual fatigue) and story discontinuity.
4.6.2.18 Solution: Correct
Shutter angle mismatch can be extremely time consuming to troubleshoot
and to correct. Since this is an “in-camera” issue from production, post is
the only solution. Depending on the severity of the issue, one way to resolve
the issue is to compensate for the l ickering effect by trying to match the
motion blur of the incorrect eye to that of the correct eye. Some i nishing
systems employ various advanced optical l ow technologies that can attempt
to match L and R.
