3.6.2 Techniques
Recall that “technique” is dei ned as “a collection or system of tasks and
activities a team uses to create a show or implement a workl ow.” Teams
in both 2D and 3D editorial are responsible for establishing, implementing,
and rei ning techniques such as:
• Assembling alternate version of shots, sequences
• Adjusting playback speed of shots, sequences
• Adjusting framing of shots, sequences
• Creating transitions between shots, sequences
• Creating EDLs corresponding to the above work
• Reviewing work with the creative team
3D editing techniques are closely related to 2D editorial. 3D editorial, like
2D editorial, depends on excellent organization of assets, capable operators
plus diplomacy and stamina. In terms of timeline, preview window and
playback window, the physical work of editing is nearly identical to its 2D
