3.4 Relationship of Editorial to Other Workl ows
Editorial, either as editing or as conform/i nishing, is most likely the workl ow
with the longest duration in your show's lifecycle. The editorial workl ow
is active during initial review of footage from production to the preparation
of the i nal master. Let's take a quick look into how the editorial workl ow
interacts with the other workl ows in 3D shows.
3.4.1 Managing
The managing team designs and resources the editorial workl ow. The
editorial team reports the status of edited and conformed imagery to the
managing team. The editorial team also identii es possible issues with
imagery by viewing dailies/rushes from production. The managing team
establishes a system to deliver scripts, workl ow masters (also known as
“cuts”) and decision lists to and from the other workl ows. One of the critical
tasks of the managing team is identifying, testing and coni rming inputs
and outputs as well as proxy and i nal formats for editing and conform.
