The process of change and propagation is shown in Figure 13.3. First and foremost, an
understanding of the problem has to be established (which in this case is adapting or chang-
ing a technique). This is followed by development and implementation of the changes. Then
the changes have to be evaluated and validated. Corrective measures need to be taken into
account and applied. Feedback ensures smooth sailing and communication is used as a tool
for early detection of issues and problems.

With time, an organization will absorb even large changes given detailed planning and
relevant resources to implement those changes. Once that happens, most organizations will
then have to put in place recommended practices for their departments, teams, and employees
to follow. This serves two purposes and carries major advantages:
The whole organization can move toward standard work practices, thus making it easy
for different departments to communicate and collaborate in a coherent manner.
We often see that it is the case with large organizations that projects and goals involving
multiple departments suffer from long and tedious procedures and are therefore victims of
slow progress. Adaption of new changes might resolve such issues as projects begin.
Procedures and interdepartmental communication can outline various areas to further
improve. This can also help an organization find new opportunities for initiating projects.
