Software as a Service (SaaS)
SaaS offers on-demand applications or services accessible through a thin client such as a
web browser. The consumer has no management or control of the infrastructure as well as
no control over the application's management and capabilities. SaaS providers were previ-
ously known as application service providers (ASPs). SaaS is an efficient delivery model for
key business applications. These include customer relationship management (CRM), enter-
prise resource planning (ERP), human resources (HR), and payroll applications. TableĀ 12.3
shows most popular SaaS vendors and the products they offer.
