administrators can flexibly allocate resources to these entities and even implement isolation,
delegation, and access control.
Physical Resource Redirection and Mapping to Virtual Resources
Virtual machines sometimes require connection with outside physical world resources such
as thumb drives and external hard drives. This would require the virtual machine to access
a physical port located on the host computer to connect with the device.
Serial Ports
A virtual serial port must be set up between the virtual machine and the host computer.
The virtual machine can then capture data directly from the host's serial port. There aren't
a lot of devices that require a serial port nowadays, but an oscilloscope and other such
sensing instruments come to mind. These devices can be connected to the host's serial port
while data is being captured by the virtual machine.
USB and Parallel Port Mapping
Much like the serial connection of the VM and host through a virtual serial port, we are
able to connect the VM to the host's various USB ports and parallel ports. This is called
USB pass-through and parallel port mapping. Parallel ports are still used for devices like
printers and scanners.

Managing pools of resources for distribution may differ depending on the workflows and pro-
cesses being used by the organization, as it should because efficiency is an important factor for
proper delivery of cloud services. Different types of cloud computing require different manage-
ment styles and processes in order to be successful. Policies and management processes applied
to a public SaaS cloud will not be efficient when used for a private IaaS one.
The management tools and software an organization uses may be the same exact ones,
depending on the organization's choices, but they must differ in how they are configured
