In-Depth Information
Security Differences between Models Security is the main reason there are different
delivery models for cloud computing. Even though the public option provides the best
overall benefits, some organizations simply cannot afford the loss of control that comes
with not knowing the full extent of the security procedures and protocols being imple-
mented. But for a relatively small organization without resources or security expertise,
the public option is the most viable course. And security in public clouds cannot be con-
sidered as anywhere near lackluster; in fact, public cloud providers have much to lose if
they fail in security, so they really cannot afford to skimp in that area.
Functionality and Performance Validation Performance is the most important aspect for
any system or application because it has an impact on whether it is worth its asking price.
A lot of the validation and testing techniques are the same as that of software and systems
testing, but with a unique twist that specifically applies to a cloud environment. However,
the overall principle, and possibly the processes, remains the same. This includes stress,
functionality, latency, load, and performance testing.
Orchestration Platforms Orchestration platforms are complete cloud solutions because
they contain all the software required for the automated provisioning and virtualization
of a converged infrastructure. It is about aligning business with technology, providing the
necessary tools for “conducting an orchestra” of tools, software resources, people, policies,
and business goals—in short, the whole package.
