Not all cloud projects are the same. Some enterprises want to start fresh with new soft-
ware and hardware, and in some cases, even a totally new data center. Then there are enter-
prises that want to transform existing IT assets into a cloud environment. That is why it is
important to plan the cloud deployment meticulously, and no two plans are ever exactly the
same. The deployment plan must begin with the discovery and baselining of current IT assets.
Building Your Cloud
After extensive planning comes setup. This might just be the most significant part of the
process because what good can a well-thought-out plan do if it is not implemented well. And
given that the cloud is not about islands of automation of computing assets, but instead how
the individual parts work together to deliver cloud computing benefits, there is a lot to do.

to deliver services to a user.
