In-Depth Information
Establishment and maintenance addressed the potential for natural regeneration
on-site. Many species have this capability, and with the removal or containment of
grazing, these species may be able to establish on-site without direct human involve-
ment. There are limited native species in the vicinity, and the prospects of their being
brought on-site by animals is slight for most. Direct seeding is an option that is less
costly and can provide plantings in more difficult locations on-site. Sown areas can be
fenced as required.
Ground treatment and weed control, nursery operations and considerations, spe-
cies introductions, and habitat features, such as freshwater habitats and bogs, are also
discussed to complete the overall management plan (abstracted from Newton and
Ashmole 2010).
