FIGURE 2-1. The four phases of project delivery include numerous activities and products. At the core of
the cycle are the project goals and objectives. It is a circle to reflect the continued use of knowledge on
subsequent projects or for rehabilitation of the same project.
This is in contrast to project management processes that are concerned with describing and
organizing the work of the project. Each life cycle phase has a distinct process associated with
that phase and results in a specific product (also referred to as a deliverable). A deliverable on a
restoration project can be a plan (e.g., a planting plan) or an object (e.g., two hundred meters of
