In Table 2 , a number of rules that satisfy the inter-theme consistency con-
straints are presented along with proposed actions. The rules application
requires the use of the auxiliary structure and map overlay operators. A
logical condition based on the attributes of the themes permits the selection
of the polygons. Selected polygons are handled as the action dictates.
Administrative units are considered of higher accuracy and their geometry is
not affected by the rules. After the successful management of the polygon
issues ( Figure 2 and Figure 3 .), the original themes are reconstructed. The
above procedure creates consistent themes and can therefore be considered
as a best practice for similar problems of polygon themes.
