immediate measure, all excavation works were stopped and a 10 m high stabilizing fill
was placed at the toe of the slope (Figs. 25.2 and 25.3). Figures 25.4 and 25.5 show the
displacements that were measured at the surface of the southern slope due to excavation
down to the lower berm. Accordingly, the lateral extent of the slide can be clearly recog-
nized. After placement of the stabilizing fill these displacements converged (Fig. 25.4).
