Conclusions
The stability of the Urft dam could be verified by means of three-dimensional FEM
analyses accounting for the interaction of dam and foundation rock, as well as ani-
sotropic mechanical and hydraulic rock mass behavior. The analysis model could be
calibrated on the basis of the results of an extensive monitoring program, which also
serves for observation of the long-term behavior of the dam.
