24.6.4 Displacements
The displacements of the dam, particularly at the crest, are dependent on both the
temperature and the storage level. Before rehabilitation, horizontal displacements of
10 - 15 mm were measured as a result of temperature changes. After excavation of the
inspection galleries, due to a temperature increase of 10°C, at constant storage level a
horizontal displacement of the dam's crest of only some 5 mm towards the upstream
side was measured by the plumb line devices (Fig. 24.28).
