17.4.2 Monitoring of Displacements Normal to the Borehole Axis
Inclinometers and deflectometers
Displacements of the rock mass normal to the axis of a borehole are measured using
inclinometers and deflectometers. A detailed description of these instruments is given
in DGGT (2002b).
Figure 17.11 (left) shows a probe inclinometer equipped with guide wheels and con-
