Core barrels (Comdrill Drilling Equipment GmbH)
Double tube core barrels (Fig. 13.6, center) can be used in all rock formations including
disturbed, soft and weak rock. They consist of an outer tube and an inner tube which
is rotatably connected with the outer tube at the core barrel head. The inner tube, pro-
tecting the core, is not rotating during drilling. The drilling fluid flows between the inner
and outer tube and comes into contact with the core only at the bit.
