If the balance of forces acting on the rock wedge requires an additional resisting
force - that is, if
1 - the wedge needs to be supported by means of tendons or
a systematic anchoring using rock bolts. In both cases an anchor force must be
calculated which is required to stabilize the rock wedge. According to the partial
safety factor method, the anchor force is introduced with its design value A d . Then,
