Figure 10.40 shows a representation of the calculated displacements of a planned roller
compacted concrete dam (RCC dam) and the foundation rock due to self-weight, water
load, uplift and seepage forces in the longitudinal section through the middle of the
valley as a result of a three-dimensional stability analysis. The heaving of the ground
underneath the dam and at the downstream side is caused by the uplift and the seepage
forces. Fig. 10.41 shows the displacements of the dam that are calculated in the same
analysis in a three-dimensional representation.
Figure 10.42 shows a representation of the calculated normal and shear stresses in the
RCC dam due to self-weight along horizontal sections in a longitudinal section through
the middle of the valley.
