Figures 10.35 and 10.36 show the stresses in a segment due to jacking forces in a devel-
oped view (Wittke et al. 2006). These forces are applied by jack shoes along partial areas
at the front face of the segments. The induced compressive stresses are redistributed in
a circumferential direction with increasing distance to the jack shoes. Between the jack
shoes transverse tensile stresses up to -4.3 MPa occur, which must be covered by a cor-
