its culture, philosophy and science in ancient times.
Information Society: The development and
adoption of Information and Communication
Technologies and related socio-economic, politi-
cal and cultural changes linked to the establish-
ment of new forms of information and means of
communication.
Information and Communication Technolo-
gies: An umbrella term referring to the combina-
tion of informatics technology with other, related
technologies, specifically communication technol-
ogy. Thus, it refers to technologies that provide ac-
cess to information through telecommunications.
It is similar to Information Technology (IT), but
focuses primarily on communication technologies
such as the Internet, wireless networks, mobile
phones, and other communication mediums.
