Holidays and Festivals
This list includes selected festivals in London, plus national holidays observed throughout
Great Britain. Many sights and banks close on national holidays—keep this in mind
when planning your itinerary. Before planning a trip around a festival, make sure to
verify its dates by checking the festival's website or TI sites ( www.visitlondon.com and
www.visitbritain.com ) .
In London, hotels get booked up on major holidays—New Year's Day, Easter week-
end, Christmas, and Boxing Day—and on Fridays and Saturdays year-round. Some hotels
require you to book the full three-day weekend around Bank Holiday Mondays.
Included in this list are major events in the nearby towns of Windsor and Cambridge.
