AT OR NEAR HEATHROW AND GATWICK AIRPORTS
It's so easy to get to Heathrow and Gatwick from central London, I see no reason to sleep
at either one. But if you do, here are some options. Heathrow has a Yotel inside the airport,
while Jurys Inn, easyHotel, and Hotel Ibis London Heathrow are a short bus or taxi ride
away. Gatwick has a Yotel in its South Terminal, while Gatwick Airport Central Premi-
er Inn rents cheap rooms 350 yards away, and Gatwick Airport Travelodge has budget
rooms about two miles from the airport.
OPTIONS ACROSS LONDON
Big, Good-Value, Modern Hotels
These chain hotels—popular with budget tour groups—offer all the modern comforts in a
no-frills, practical package. If you can score a double for £ 90-100 (or less—often possible
with promotional rates) and don't mind a modern, impersonal, American-style hotel, one
of these can be a decent value in pricey London. This option is especially worth consid-
ering for families, as kids often stay for free. While most of these hotels have 24-hour re-
ception and elevators, extras such as breakfast and Wi-Fi cost extra, and the service lacks
a personal touch (at some, you'll check in at an automated kiosk). When comparing your
options, keep in mind that for about the same price, you can get a basic room at a budget
hotel or B&B that has less predictable comfort, but more funkiness and friendliness in a
more enjoyable neighborhood.
On each chain's website, you can see information about individual branches and book
a stay. The rate you'll pay changes from day to day, and varies depending on how far
