Cuisine Art: View coffee shops with food are on levels 1 and 3. On level 6, there's a
table-service restaurant ( £ 24 for two courses, £ 29 for three courses, £ 15 afternoon tea
served 15:00-17:30, until 17:00 Fri-Sun); even better, you can sit at one of the many
stools at the casual bar, with the best views of all and lower prices ( £ 3-5 drinks, lim-
ited £ 9-12 main courses). This perch provides stunning panoramas of St. Paul's (see
photo on previous page). Some trendy restaurants are several blocks southwest of the
Tate, along the street named “the Cut” (near Southwark Tube stop).
Starring: Picasso, Matisse, Dalí, and all the “classic” modern artists, plus the Tate
Modern's specialty—British and American artists of the last half of the 20th century.
Know Your Tates: Don't confuse the Tate Modern with the Tate Britain (south of Big
