Just about every visitor to London strolls along historic Whitehall from Big Ben to Trafal-
gar Square. This quick nine-stop walk gives meaning to that touristy ramble. Under Lon-
don's modern traffic and big-city bustle lie 2,000 fascinating years of history. You'll get a
whirlwind tour as well as a practical orientation to London.

Length of This Walk:
Allow one hour for a leisurely walk, and add more time if you drop
by the Churchill War Rooms (1-2 hours) and the Banqueting House (30-60 minutes).
Other nearby sights include the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, National
Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, and St. Martin-in-the-Fields.
Getting There:
Take the Tube to Westminster, then take the Westminster Pier exit. The
walk ends at Trafalgar Square (nearest Tube stop: Charing Cross).
