SETTING AND ATMOSPHERE
We don't think that anything has changed since this restaur-
ant opened decades ago. Wood paneling dominates. Pictures of alpine meadows and pic-
turesque old-world villages hang beneath shelves of kitschy accoutrements from delicate
porcelain teapots to hearty beer steins—but it's clean and neat.
HOUSE SPECIALTIES
The German pancakes, dense, doughy, platter-size egg cakes flavored
with everything from lemon and powdered sugar to fruit jams and even fresh fruit; fat,
juicy bratwursts.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
Omelets, corned beef hash, and house-made sausage patties.
SUMMARY AND COMMENTS
Everyone from recent German émigrés and tourists to des-
cendants of the original German settlers gather here to eat fat, fluffy German pancakes
and sausage and gossip over coffee. The huge menu offers something for everyone, from
burgers to bratwurst and bagels to Wiener schnitzel.

HOUSE SPECIALTIES
Steak … almost any of the featured cuts are outstanding. Try the Kobe
flatiron, rubbed with spices and pepper, grilled to order, and served as cutlets. It's an un-
derrated cut that's as lean as most filets and more flavorful than a sirloin.
