Mexican, Japanese, Korean, and Greek restaurants. We've confined our coverage to
restaurants that you can reach by car or cab in 15 minutes or less. If you're willing to
range farther afield, your choices increase exponentially.
Among specialty restaurants in and out of Disneyland Resort, location and price

town Disney and several independent Italian eateries within 5 miles of the Disney
complex. Which one you select depends on how much you want to spend and how
convenient the place is.
Better restaurants outside Disneyland Resort cater primarily to adults and aren't
as well equipped to deal with children. This is a plus, however, if you're looking to
escape children and eat in peace and quiet.
The GardenWalk retail and entertainment complex is east of the park. Popular
chains such as The Cheesecake Factory, Roy's Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine, Califor-
nia Pizza Kitchen, and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. are doingbriskbusiness. The best
of the lot is probably McCormick & Schmick's Grille, which serves well-prepared
fresh seafood at outrageous prices.
BUFFETS AND MEAL DEALS OUTSIDE DISNEYLAND RESORT
BUFFETS, RESTAURANT SPECIALS, AND DISCOUNT DINING abound in the area surround-
ing Disneyland Resort, especially on Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue. The
local visitor magazines, which are distributed free at non-Disney hotels, among other
places, are packed with advertisements and discount coupons for seafood feasts, buf-
fets (Chinese, Indian, and the like), and a host of combination specials for everything
from lobster to barbecue. For a family trying to economize on meals, some of the

roll of Tums, the Unofficial research team tried all the eateries that advertise heavily
in the tourist publications. Here's what we discovered.
Chinese Super Buffets
Whoa! Talk about an oxymoron. If you've ever tried preparing Chinese food, espe-
cially a stir-fry, you know that split-second timing is required to avoid overcooking.
So it should come as no big surprise that Chinese dishes languishing on a buffet lose
their freshness, texture, and flavor in a hurry. On the bright side, however, the super
