siding. Large shuttered windows belie a small indoor-dining area; most of the seating is
outdoors on a large patio covered with colorful umbrellas.
HOUSE SPECIALTIES Mickey-shaped pancakes, country potatoes, and bacon are breakfast
diner favorites. Little kids love the Mickey-shaped peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS The turkey, barbecued-pork, and vegetable sandwiches are
very good, served on fresh baguettes with a choice of tasty sides; a fixin's bar includes
sautéed mushrooms and onions, red onions, sauces, tomatoes, and pickles.
SUMMARY AND COMMENTS This 1955 Disneyland original seems to survive by keeping
the menu fresh and flexible. Disney lore places Walt here every morning for breakfast for
Mickey pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and large, buttery cinnamon rolls drip-
ping with buttercream frosting (a staff favorite). We like this place for light lunches or
dinners when you don't want to take a lot of time for a formal sit-down meal. Grab a hot
sandwich, a PB&J or turkey sandwich for the kids, and a tall lemonade, and people-watch
or just take in the view of Rivers of America from the patio.

SETTING AND ATMOSPHERE In 2011 Steakhouse 55 received new decor (as part of the
Disneyland Hotel's entire renovation) with an update on classic American steak house.
The big, overstuffed red leather booths are gone and in their place are stylishly Art
Deco-inspired hardwood tables, sleek leather chairs, and smaller banquettes. The indirect
lighting casts a warm glow over everything, including an impressive collection of black-
and-white photographs from Disney's storied past.
HOUSE SPECIALTIES Breakfast features eggs Benedict and New York steak and eggs. At
dinner it's all about the meat—grilled certified Angus beef seasoned with the restaurant's
signature rub—but you can also order one of the fresh seafood choices or delectable lamb,
pork, or chicken. Choose a bottle of wine from an impressive wine cellar, or simply en-
gage one of the numerous sommeliers to choose a wine to complement your meal.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS The lobster and steak combination is actually very good, but
the price can catch you by surprise; always ask up front before ordering unless you have
very deep pockets.
SUMMARY AND COMMENTS This underrated eatery has been a well-kept secret for years
and matches many of the more well-known steak houses in the area (Morton's and Ruth's
Chris) steak for steak. The recent renovation has only made the place more alluring and
comfortable, a perfect place to spend a grown-up evening over a leisurely meal matched
