SETTING AND ATMOSPHERE
Food aside, this is a really fun restaurant: modern, colorful,
and spacious, with tile floors, an open demonstration kitchen, and whimsical design
touches that mirror nearby Disneyland. It's also noisy and crowded, typically filled with
families. During peak hours, it's difficult to hear yourself think, let alone carry on a mean-
ingful conversation. Nonetheless, it's a great gathering place, and there's something to ap-
peal to everyone from small children to adults.
HOUSE SPECIALTIES
Wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas: thin, crispy crusts with a hearty,
almost spicy red sauce; handmade mozzarella cheese; and fresh toppings of choice.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
Some of the nonpasta entrées—pan-seared salmon with
roastedtomatoesandgreenbeansandacitrus-and-herb-rubbed chicken,forexample—are
the real highlights.
SUMMARY AND COMMENTS
Another Patina-Joachim Splichal venture where most of the
effort went into the design. While the menu seems sophisticated, the recipes are rather
bland and uninspired with a few exceptions. The kids will enjoy the colorful decor and
activities; adults can get a good glass of wine or a cocktail and feed the entire crew for
less than $100.

SETTING AND ATMOSPHERE
This is next-door Naples's cousin—a quick-in, quick-out deli
with most of what you'd expect, from swinging salamis to large jars of peppers. Counter
and table service continue to improve, but expect a lapse in attitude once in awhile. They
want to get it right, but when frustrated, servers lose patience.
HOUSE SPECIALTIES
Wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas, panini, salads.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
Best bets are the panini—grilled sandwiches on thick Italian
bread, loaded to order with salami, veggies, peppers, onions, and such.
SUMMARY AND COMMENTS
Don't set your expectations too high and you won't be dis-
appointed here. Servers get flustered easily, and order mistakes are common (our guess is
that Napolini serves as a training ground for Naples). Noise spills over from Naples on
busy nights, as do impatient diners who don't want to wait for a table next door, making
for a volatile mix that can have you feeling very uncomfortable in a hurry. But maybe
that's the plan: to get you in with the sweet, spicy aromas of Italian cooking and then out
quickly.
