SUMMARY AND COMMENTS
House of Blues is first and foremost a major concert site,
with marquee names, up-and-comers, and strong local talent taking the stage every night.
Unless stated otherwise, the separately ticketed concert hall is strictly an adult venue (18
and older), though children are always welcome in the restaurant. In 2012 House of Blues
(which has rebranded its restaurants as Crossroads at House of Blues) enlisted Food Net-
work celebrity chef Aaron Sanchez to overhaul the menu. The resulting fare bursts with
fresher, bolder flavors befitting a blend of Southern soul food with Sanchez's Latino back-
ground. Happy hour (Monday-Friday, 2-5 p.m., and daily, 10 p.m.-close) offers discoun-

SETTING AND ATMOSPHERE
A taste of Southern California beach life: bright primary col-
ors, potted palms, and decorative elements such as surfboards, oversize kites, and beach
chairs.
HOUSE SPECIALTIES
Banana caramel French toast and Mickey-shaped waffles at breakfast.
Wood-fired flatbread pizzas and burgers.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
The steaks and salads are actually quite good, if a little
pricey. Breakfasts are your best bet with an omelet station for the grown-ups and a kids'
buffet. What kid doesn't like choosing his or her own dining destiny?
SUMMARY AND COMMENTS
If you can take one more character breakfast, this time with
Mickey and friends, get the kids up early and hit the “beach.” Since reopening in 2010
with a revamped menu, the food has improved.
