We left the park before noon; ate sandwiches, chips, and soda in the room; and
napped. We purchased our evening meal in the park at a counter-service eatery. We
budgetedformorningandeveningsnacksfromavendorbutoftendidnotneedthem.
It made the occasional treat all the more special. Our cooler had been pretty much
emptied by the end of the week, but the block of ice was still there.
A mom from Whiteland, Indiana, who purchases drinks in the parks, offers this
suggestion:
One must-take item if you're traveling with younger kids is a supply of small cups to
split drinks, which are both huge and expensive.
We interviewed one woman who brought a huge picnic for her family of five
packed in a large diaper-baby paraphernalia bag. She stowed the bag in a locker on
Main Street and retrieved it when the family was hungry.
Note:
Disney has a rule against bringing your own food and drink into the parks.
Although since 9/11 all packs, purses, diaper bags, and such have been searched, se-
curity usually does not enforce the ban except for prohibiting glass containers and al-
coholic beverages.

Disney Dining's response to the recession is to whittle down portions while
maintaining or raising prices. Disney claims that it was accommodating the desires
of health-conscious guests. Give us a break. Especially hard hit are salads and pasta
dishes with chicken, where the chicken is largely AWOL.
The restaurants profiled in the following pages are rated for quality and portion
size as well as value. The value rating ranges from A to F as follows:
