In-Depth Information
If you want to linger over your expensive meal, don't order your entire dinner
at once. Order drinks, study the menu while you sip, and then order appetizers. Tell
the waiter you need more time to decide among entrées. Order your main course only
after appetizers have been served. Dawdle over coffee and dessert. The exceptions
to this rule may be the Wine Country Trattoria and Carthay Circle Restaurant inside
DCA, upscale venues that encourage a respite over a glass or bottle of premium wine.
But, sadly, you may feel pressure even there in peak season.
4. If you're dining in a theme park and cost is an issue, make lunch your main meal.
Entrées are similar to those on the dinner menu, but prices may be slightly lower.
DISNEYLAND RESORT RESTAURANT CATEGORIES
IN GENERAL, food and beverage offerings at Disneyland Resort are defined by service,
price, and convenience:
FULL-SERVICE RESTAURANTS Full-service restaurants are in all Disneyland Resort
hotels, both parks, and Downtown Disney. Disney operates most of the restaurants in
the theme parks and its hotels; contractors or franchisees operate those at Downtown
Disney. The restaurants accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and
Diners Club.
BUFFETS AND FIXED-PRICE MEALS With set-price character meals such as Ariel's
Grotto at DCA, you can choose one item each from a limited selection of appetizers,
salads, main courses, and desserts. Character buffets such as the one at Goofy's
Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel have a separate children's menu featuring kid fa-
vorites such as hot dogs, burgers, chicken nuggets, pizza, macaroni and cheese, and
spaghetti and meatballs, as well as healthier options such as sliced fruit, yogurt, and
whole-grain baked goods. Dining reservations are highly recommended for all char-
acter meals.
COUNTER SERVICE Counter-service fast food is available at both theme parks and
Downtown Disney. The food compares in quality with McDonald's, Captain D's,
Pizza Hut, or Taco Bell but is more expensive, though it's often served in larger por-
tions.
HARD CHOICES
DINING DECISIONS will definitely affect your Disneyland Resort experience. If you're
short on time and you want to see the theme parks, avoid full service. Ditto if you're
short on funds. If you want to try a Disney full-service restaurant, arrange dining re-
servations—this won't reserve you a table, but it will minimize your wait.
