infrastructure improvements, etc. It can be a relatively easy task to adapt
these methods for use in an environmental analysis to compare alternatives
and also to compare impacts to different resources (e.g., traffic congestion
vs. lost business to local retailers from diverting traffic from commercial
areas). The concepts of ecological endpoints and NEBA can be used in dif-
ferent fields, but it takes the knowledge of the environmental resource at
risk, understanding of the different alternatives, and a degree of creativ-
ity and initiative to identify and successfully apply tools in environmental
analysis and provide meaningful environmental inputs into decisions.
