The cable that connects the floppy disk drive(s) to the controller on the motherboard may
appear quite strange due to a unique “twist” in some of the wires, as well as a number of
connector options. To support various drive configurations, a universal cable might have
up to five connectors on it—two edge connectors and two pin connectors to attach to the
drives and one pin connector to connect to the controller. The cable has redundant con-
nectors for each of the two drives (A: and B:) supported by the standard floppy disk drive
controller,soyoucaninstallanycombinationof51/4-inchand31/2-inchdrives(see Fig-
ure 10.7 ) .
