Peripheral Diagnostics
Many types of diagnostic software are used with specific hardware products. This soft-
ware can be integrated into the hardware, included with the hardware purchase, or sold as
a separate product.
Many network interface adapters, for example, are equipped with their own diagnostics,
designed to test their own specialized functions. Depending on the network adapter, these
tests might require you to boot with a DOS disk or they might function within Windows.

TocreateanMS-DOSbootdiskinWindowsXPornewerthatyoucanusetostartthesystem
before running DOS-based network diagnostics or other tests, insert a blank floppy disk into
the A: drive, open [My] Computer, right-click the A: drive, and select Format. Check the
Create an MS-DOS Startup Disk box and then click OK.
