Start out right by setting up your camera preferences
If your camera has the option, it's generally best to shoot in its
camera raw file format, which captures all the image information
you need. With one camera raw photo, says Graham, “you can go
from daylight to an indoor tungsten image without degradation”
when it's reproduced. If it makes more sense to shoot in JPEG for
your project, use fine compression and high resolution.

Get all the data when you capture—at fine compression and high
resolution. You can't go back later.

Name and catalogue your images as soon after downloading them
