Overview
There is an ever-increasing use of space for all manner of activities, and we have
already become quite dependent on the use of space technology in our everyday
lives. For example, we are increasingly using satellite navigation for vehicle and
pedestrian journeys, to track goods and estimate bus arrival times. We are also
employing satellite systems for communication and entertainment (TV, interactive
games), international fi nancial transactions and air-traffi c management.
