cally accelerated. However, in many cases, river systems are managed as if they were static.
The changes in river systems can occur over a variety of timescales. Some of the changes occur
over geological timescales, such as the evolution of river systems, and these timescales are often too
large for practical consideration. Rivers are, of course, strongly impacted by and respond to changes
