water puriied with ZZ meets the requirements set by the WHO guidelines and the Cuban
standard NC 827: 2010 [13,14].
A 100 g load of ZZ allows the puriication of 150 L of water. Throughout the process, the
zinc content in the treated water does not increase above 3 ppm (mg/L) as observed in
Figure 30.11, i.e., well under the Cuban 5 ppm standard, which is the value recommended
by the WHO [10].
The study of the pitcher with ZZ cartridge (140 g) using home tap water reproduced the
exchange of Zn 2+ by Ca 2+ as observed in Figure 30.12. The calcium content was reduced by
25% as compared with the initial value in tap water.
