24.9 Conclusions
A water treatment system has been developed that incorporates ive photochemical pro-
cesses based on light-activated nanotechnology that work synergistically together to com-
pletely destroy microorganisms and signiicantly reduce a broad spectrum of chemical
contaminants including emerging organic chemicals of concern, as well as many inor-
ganic chemicals and heavy metals.
