PU nanoibers were subjected to argon plasma to generate oxide and peroxide groups on
the surface. It was then immersed in 4-vinylpyridine monomeric solution with exposure
to UV radiation, to graft poly(4-vinylpyridine) on PU ibers. The potential of polycarbonate
(PC)/chloroform solution with quaternary ammonium salt (benzyl tri-ethylammonium
chloride, BTEAC) as antimicrobial nanoibrous membranes was explored by Kim et al. 33
The addition of BTEAC to PC inhibited the growth of S. aureus , E. coli , and Klebsiella pneu-
