adjust the View Range settings of a detail view.
A detail view shows the portion of the model within the boundaries of the
callout box. This box determines the crop region within the detail view, as
shown in
Figure 22.25

A detail view taken from the plan, elevation, or section shows any grid lines
or levels whose 3D extents cross within the boundaries of the callout to
help with location information. These datum annotation elements can be
turned off if necessary, but you cannot edit them in a detail view. They move
to maintain their relationship to the crop region when the crop region is
adjusted.
Revit MEP 2015 can create a nonrectangular crop region. This works for
both floor plan and detail view callouts.
