In-Depth Information
you need to hatch a portion of your light fixture to display it as an
emergency light, use the Detail Items template. But if you need to
display the receptacle symbol, use the Generic Annotation template.
A family such as a receptacle is usually created from two separate families:
a model family that contains the model geometry, connector, and all
necessary parameters and a symbol family (made from Generic
Annotation.rft ) that is inserted—or, as we say in Revit terminology,
nested —into the model family.
There are a few more templates that you may end up using here and there,
but these four templates will cover the majority of your family creation
needs. Spend some time to customize them and incorporate your standard
line styles, filled regions, materials, and so forth.
