map . Owned by the son of Jacques Cousteau, this luxurious and environmentally sensitive re-
sort boasts 25 beautifully hand-crafted thatch bures plus a fabulously opulent villa. The beach
isn't great, but there's fine snorkelling off the pier and kids are spoilt with their own play
centre, swimming pool and personalized carers. As you'd expect, scuba diving is brilliantly
managed and there also are well -organi zed ka yaking and waterfall trips. Rates include meals,

EATING AND DRINKING
Savusavu is a wonderful place for dining out, rivalling Nadi for choice and with several good
restaurants on the water's edge. Although the town has a genteel feel by day, don't be sur-
prised to see drunks staggering around on Friday and Saturday nights - one notorious place
to avoid is the Tavern Bar next door to the Planters Club . After around 8pm it's probably
best to take a taxi back to your accommodation.
RESTAURANTS AND CAFÉS
Captains Café Copra Shed Marina 885 0511; map . Shakes, cakes and coffees with views
over the water. Light meals include Caesar salad and curry of the day for F$8 or pizzas from
F$15. Daily 8am-9pm.
Captain's Table Copra Shed Marina; map . A tad expensive, but the seafood and meat dishes
such as teriyaki tuna (F$18) are superbly cooked and the lunch specials are great value. The
glamorous setting on the water's edge is outstanding. Daily 11am-2.30pm & 5.30-9.30pm.
