in the Mamanucas. Starting at the back of
Castaway Island Resort
, a
narrow path climbs for five minutes before levelling out and meandering through light natur-
al forest. After twenty minutes, the trail emerges on the rocky slopes of the east side of the
island where you're graced with wonderful
views
overlooking the small uninhabited Mociu
Island and beyond to Mana and Matamanoa. The trail ends here but it's worth continuing
for ten minutes, picking your way over the boulders until you reach the eastern tip of the is-
land. Here there's another stunning view overlooking Likuliku Lagoon and the western end
of Malolo Island.
You can return via the north beach - look out for a trail on the right within a minute's walk
back down through the forest. Follow this to the beach and then continue north and around
Monkey Rock, which resembles a monkey's head, and back to the resort.
