Bounty Island
Five minutes northwest of South Sea Island is Bounty Island , the largest of the coral cays
in the Mamanucas at 48 acres, and the best for exploring; it was the idyllic location for real-
ity TV show Celebrity Love Island . Bounty is a popular spot for backpackers heading back
and forth from the Yasawas. Kayaks and catamarans are available for rent, and kayakers can
circumnavigate the island in an hour paddling in a crystal clear lagoon. The north lagoon fa-
cing the resort has reasonable snorkelling , with shallow waters good for beginners, and there
are several massive coral heads with plenty of small reef fish barely 30m from shore. You'll
also find walking trails meandering under light scrub (good for bird-spotting), and interest-
ing beachcombing with lots of shells, driftwood, hermit crabs and wonderful views looking
back to Vuda Point and the mountains of Viti Levu.
