CAFÉS AND RESTAURANTS
Blue Ginger Café & Deli Elizabeth Square 907 6553. This endearing and friendly Indian-
run café is brightly coloured inside and out, and serves the town's best coffee and cakes (F$4),
as well as healthy salads and juices. Daily 7.30am-5pm.
Chilli Tree Café 3 Tukani St 665 1824. Lautoka's best option for a simple breakfast or
sandwich lunch, serving cakes for around F$4, good coffee for F$5.50, a full breakfast for
F$15.90 or kebabs and wraps for F$14. Mon-Fri 7.30am-5pm, Sat 7.30am-4pm.
Fins Restaurant At the Tanoa Waterfront hotel, Marine Drive 666 4777. Lautoka's only
fine-dining restaurant has a handful of outdoor tables boasting ocean views, although the
modern interior is café-style. The broad but overpriced menu includes beer-battered fish and
chips (F$22.50), grilled local market fish (F$25), curry of the day (F$27) and local beef fillet
(F$45). Daily 6.30-9.30am, 11.30am-2.30pm & 6-10.30pm.
Jolly Good Corner of Naviti & Vakabale streets. Convenient café if you're after a quick bite,
with counter-cooked food served from a large trailer and covered outdoor tables opposite the
market. The fish and chips are excellent value at F$6.75 and the F$1.30 ice cream is worth
savouring. Mon-Wed 9am-9pm, Thurs-Sat 8am-10pm, Sun 8am-9pm.
BARS AND CLUBS
Hunters Inn At the Lautoka Hotel, Tui St 666 0388. This dark, dungeon-like nightclub
has free entry throughout the week and plays popular Fijian-style hits. Mon-Sat 8pm-1am.
Northern Club 11 Tavewa Ave 666 0184. The bar of this social club is a good place to
meet a few locals over a cheap draught beer, or play snooker on a full-sized table for 50 cents
a game. Also serves bar snacks and meat pies. Daily 2pm-midnight.
Zone Nightclub Naviti St 927 0623. Popular with a young, predominantly Fiji-Indian
crowd. There are DJs on Fri & Sat nights, pool tables and satellite TV showing sports or mu-
sic. Entry F$3. Mon-Sat 8pm-1am.
CINEMA
Village Four Cinemas 25 Namoli Ave 666 3555. Shows the latest Hollywood block-
busters. Tickets F$6.50. Daily 10am-11pm.
