Municipal Market Between Market Rd & Hospital Rd, Downtown; map . Atmospheric
covered market, with enticing piles of fresh seasonal fruit and veg and a whole section ded-
icated to the sale of yaqona roots - an essential purchase if you're making a village visit. If
you're after a snack, Indian boys usually sell inexpensive peanuts, curried beans and roti par-
cels at the main entrance on Market Rd. Mon-Sat 7am-5pm.
SNORKELLING AND DIVING EQUIPMENT
It's worth buying your own set of snorkelling gear, especially as many budget island resorts
either don't supply them or have rather old leaky kit. When you're done, the gear makes a
fantastic gift to a local villager, which also saves lugging them home. It will set you back
about F$65 for a snorkel and mask and F$45 for a pair of fins. As well as Viti Watersports ,
Jack's and Tappoo also sell snorkelling gear.
Viti Watersports Martintar 670 2413, vitiwatersports.com ; map . Stocks a good range
of dive and snorkelling equipment, plus they have a repair and maintenance facility. Mon-Fri
8am-5pm, Sat 8am-noon.
