Dynamic Strength Tests
Cyclic Triaxial Test (ASTM D5311-96, ASTM D3999-96)
Purpose: The purpose is to measure strength parameters under low-frequency loadings
(intermediate to large strain amplitudes). Cyclic compression modulus E d of cohesive soil
(dynamic shear modulus G d is computed from E d , Table 3.27) and the liquefaction resist-
ance of undisturbed and reconstituted specimens of cohesionless soils under low-fre-
quency loadings.
