In-Depth Information
The application of Equations (9-31) is illustrated in Figure 9-21, which represents a
hypothetical rectangular array of 60 HAWTs divided into 12 clusters of 5 turbines each
[Spera and Sengupta 1994]. The modulation index at the zone boundaries is 0.15, and the
probability of exceedance is 0.05. Other parameters are h S = 0.5 and | E PS, D | = | E R, D | .
Again we see that the back-to-front ratio of a properly-oriented receiving antenna only
affects backward scatter.
Figure 9-21. Theoretical TV interference zone around a hypothetical HAWT power
station, for various back-to-front ratios of the receiving antenna. The station contains
60 HAWTs divided into 12 clusters. It is assumed that turbines within a cluster operate in
synchronism, but cluster interferences add randomly. [Spera and Sengupta 1994]
