Table 3-9. Summary of Design Load Cases for IEC 614000-1 Type Certiication
Design Situation
Wind and Other Conditions for Load Case Analysis
1.
Power production
Analyses are to be performed for:
· Overall operating wind speeds using the normal
and extreme turbulence models for ultimate
and fatigue loads cases,
· Extreme coherent deterministic gust combined
with direction change for the ultimate loads case,
· Extreme wind shear for the ultimate loads case.
2.
Power pr oduction pl us f ault Ultimate strength analyses are to be performed for:
· Overall operating wind speeds using the normal
turbulence model with a control system fault
or loss of the electrical grid,
· Overall operating wind speeds using the normal
turbulence model with a protection system or
preceding an internal electrical including loss
of the electrical grid,
· Extreme operating gust model with an external
or internal electrical fault including loss of the
electrical grid.
Fatigue analyses are to be performed for:
· Overall operating wind speeds using the normal
turbulence model with a control system fault
or loss of the electrical grid.
3.
Startup
Fatigue analyses are to be performed for:
· Startups under the normal wind shear proile.
Ultimate strength analyses are to be performed:
· Using the extreme operating gust model,
· Extreme gust with direction change.
4.
Normal shut-down
Fatigue analyses are to be performed for:
· Shut-downs under the normal wind shear proile.
Ultimate strength analyses are to be performed:
· Extreme operating gust model.
5.
Emergency shut- down
Ultimate strength analyses are to be performed using the normal
turbulence model at rated wind speed, and plus and minus 2 m/s
around the rated wind speed.
6.
Parked - standing still and
idling
Ultimate strength analyses are to be performed using the
extreme wind speed model for a 50-year recurrence, including
loss of the grid.
Fatigue analyses are to be performed using the normal turbu-
lence model for a wind speed of 0.7V Ref .
7.
Parked with fault conditions
Ultimate strength analysis performed using the extreme wind
speed model for a one-year recurrence period.
8.
Transport, assembly,
maintenance, and repair
Ultimate strength analyses are to be performed:
· Using the normal turbulence model at the highest
maintenance wind speed allowed by the manufacturer,
· Using the extreme wind model with one year recurrence
period.
